   Philadelphia Marathon 2010

 

PHILADELPHIA MARATHON VOLUNTEER PROGRAM– November 19, 20 & 21, 2010

Be part of the Philadelphia Marathon, a world-class athletic event! Be among some two thousand volunteers on hand to support the race. There are opportunities to assist with pre-race activities such as packet stuffing, registration, expo, and the information booth. Race day activities will include course monitors, support at the start, finish, and other parts of the course. There is a role for everyone! Sign up with friends, family, co-workers, schools, churches, nonprofit groups, or any other group of people. You can work together and have fun while supporting this wonderful event. Greater Philadelphia Cares is partnering with the Philadelphia Marathon for this event of which we call all be proud. All volunteers will receive a free 2010 Marathon Shirt.

VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES

  • Volunteers must carry a photo ID with them at all times during their assignment and must be prepared to show this to a race official and security personnel upon request.

  • Volunteers must wear their 2010 Philadelphia Marathon volunteer shirt and credential (if provided).

  • If at any time during your assignment you have a problem, notify your team captain immediately, who in turn will inform the proper authorities.

  • Dress appropriately casual and for the weather! Wear comfortable shoes.

  • Do not bring backpacks, cameras, or other valuables with you to your assignment. The race is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Volunteers are required to obey the "No Smoking" and "No Alcohol" policy for the duration of their assignment.

  • Volunteering is a great experience. Be prepared and flexible for a long day. Reassignments may occur. Morning coffee & a light lunch will be provided for volunteers checking in at Health & Fitness Expo or on race day at the Oval. Volunteers working along the race course should bring a lunch.

  • Volunteers working Food and Fluid Distribution at the Start, along the Course and at the Finish will be provided with vinyl gloves that must be worn at all times.

  • As a volunteer, be prepared to answer many types of questions. Take pride in your role. Familiarize yourself with the course maps & start/finish diagrams. These maps & diagrams will provide valuable information to make the participant's experience a great one.

  • Please be reminded: volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
