Philadelphia Cares Day 2010
On Saturday, October 16th, 2010 Greater Philadelphia Cares, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and presenting sponsors the ACE Charitable Foundation and SAP, mobilized some 4,000 volunteers for the 17th Annual Philadelphia Cares Day, a marathon day of volunteer service dedicated to the school children of our region. More than 400 hundred volunteer teams spent their Saturday painting classrooms, clearing trash from playgrounds, and organizing libraries & storage closets at schools throughout Philadelphia and beyond.

“Philadelphia Cares Day is like throwing 20,000 stones into a body of water. Each hour that dedicated caring individuals spend in preparation and execution of the day, is another stone into the water. Instead of a tiny ripple, Philadelphia Cares Day becomes a tidal wave of service and compassion. Thousands upon thousands of young people and adults in schools and community centers throughout the city will continue to feel the effects of what engaged individuals can do. Thank you for your service on Cares Day and thank you for getting involved. There is no community without the commitment of citizens to do.”
~CEO, Martin Molloy
