National Youth Service Day 2008: April 26

"Rather than standing or speaking for children, we need to stand with children speaking for themselves.
We don't need a political movement for children... [we need to] build environments and policies for our collective future."

Sandra Meucci

On Saturday, April 26th, over 500 volunteers helped garden and perform community revitalization in locations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. You were joined by millions of other children and young adults around the world on this special weekend. Greater Philadelphia Cares truly appreciates the commitment put forth by all of the volunteers and understands that we could not do it with out you.

National Youth Service Day is the nation's largest service event for youth. While National Youth Service Day happens only once a year, it is an opportunity for young people up to the age of 25 to learn what it takes to become active citizens all year round.
